Recurrent herpes labialis, also known as a “cold sore” or “fever blister” are never fun for anyone.  They are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV1) and usually occur outside the mouth on the lips, chin, cheeks or nostrils.  They can also occur less frequently intraorally on non-movable tissues such the hard palate and attached gingivae (gums that are attached to and cover bony structures).  Approximately 80% of the population experience outbreaks of the virus.

Examination Process ...
Even before your initial visit we will evaluate information from you, concerning your medical and dental history. In this way we can better be prepared to serve you. We have found that excellence in dentistry begins with a careful diagnosis and treatment plan, to move us toward the goals we will establish together. We will perform a comprehensive examination of the teeth, gums, bite, jaw joint and soft tissues. When needed, and with your permission, we will utilize all appropriate x-rays. We will use intra-oral photographs and study models of your teeth and jaw to identify areas of concern. We believe this in-depth examination to be the cornerstone of quality dentistry.

Prevention ...
We have centered our practice around prevention and health as opposed to one that simply emphasizes emergency and repair care.The supporting gum tissue and bone are just as vital as the teeth themselves. The best way to protect and maintain the crucial supporting structures, is to have regular professional oral hygiene appointments, and excellent daily home care. We will design an ongoing program of care with you, so you may continue in excellent oral health.

Implantology ...
Dental implants allow us to solidly and permanently replace missing teeth in patients who previously had to settle for a looser fitting, removable type of tooth replacement like dentures. We work closely with a specialist who places the implants. Dr. Logan then completes your treatment with the appropriate restorative dentistry.

We recognize that emergencies do occur. Our office phone number is answered 24 hours a day. We provide special priority status for you or any family member who has been seen during the previous year in our practice.
